SupaCMDB is the Configuration and Change Management module of SupaTools, and provides the foundation for all other modules.
A record in the CMDB is referred to as a Configuration Item (CI). The following CI Types are supplied out-of-the box:
All CI Types can be further extended to represent any type of Asset you want to track, along with the necessary attributes. The SupaCMDB schema can be fully customized without any back-end database knowledge or programming required. This gives you full power over your CMDB, allowing you to make immediate adjustments without having to involve expensive consultants. (Although we're happy to help too :-)
Struggling with patch management? We have recently introduced a new mechanism in SupaCMDB for automating your patch schedule, to both reduce risk and streamline the process. Read about it in the attached paper.
Attempting an Excel CMDB? Eliminate all those hard-to-manage spreadsheets by importing all your data into SupaCMDB. Flexible tools are provided to rapidly populate the CMDB including the creation & modifications of Configuration Items and their relationships.
A fundamental feature of a CMDB is the ability to relate CI records and visualise their relationships. With SupaCMDB you can easily navigate and inspect relationships to reveal dependencies, parent / child relationships and other associations. Relationship links can be created manually or automatically via import or API. Relationships are key when performing impact analysis, and to determine where an Asset is, who is using it and what it relies on.
The SupaCMDB Change Management feature has the flexibility to adapt to the way your internal change process works. The life-cycle of a Change is determined by its status value. The diagram below illustrates the default flow, which can be further manipulated by templates and custom status values.
Reviewers and Approvers of a Change can be defined statically or determined dynamically, according to the impacted CIs, Services, and priority of the Change. Templates enable you to define multiple workflows including individually assigned Tasks. Interaction with a Change can be conducted via e-mail, directly through the SupaTools UI or using the SupaDESK Mobile App.
